There are different ways to support creators on bump, some free, some where you need spend bump Tokens.

ℹ️ Note: Tokens are bump's internal currency, and can be bought using Crypto or other payment methods. bump Tokens are not a cryptocurrency. To know more about Tokens, visit our bump Tokens help page.

Following a Channel

Channel follows are a great way to show your support to the creators you appreciate, just a click away. It doesn't cost anything to follow a channel, and will give you perks! As a channel follower, you will be able to:

  • See the channel in your following sections: whether it is on the side bar or on your following page, all the channels you follow will be all in one place so that you can easily find them again.

  • Receive go-live notifications: notifications are sent when a channel you follow goes live. Go-live notifications are turned on by default when you follow a channel. You can hit the bell icon on a channel page to turn off the notifications. Alternatively, you can also go to the Notifications tab of your Settings to manage your notifications preferences on a global level. You can update your notification preferences at any time.

  • Post messages in followers only chat: Creators can decide to restrict their chat to followers only. This means only users following their channel will be able to post messages in their chat.

The channels you follow have some influence on the recommended channels that are displayed on your side bar.

To follow a channel, click on the "Follow" button on the channel's page or under any of the channel's videos.

Subscribing to a Channel

A channel subscription is a monthly amount of tokens you can give a creator to support their work. Creators can set the price of the subscription to their channel to the amount of tokens they want.

ℹ️ Note: To know more about how subscriptions work from a creator's perspective, you can visit the Subscription section of our Creator Dashboard help page.

Rewards

Subscribing to a channel gives you some perks, regardless of the price set by the creator for their monthly subscription. As long as you are actively subscribed to a channel, you will be able to:

  • Use channel emotes globally: Emotes can be used in the chat of the channel they belong to by any followers of the channel. However, Subscribers of that channel get a bonus: they can also use the emotes globally across bump, with no channel restriction. This gives artists the possibility to monetize emotes they create, without the obligation to broadcast. Anyone can add emotes to their channel and get users to subscribe so that they can be used across the site.

  • Have a subscriber badge in chat: Creators can add subscription badges based on the duration of the subscription, allowing you to display your loyalty in their chat. The channel badge will display on the left of your name when you send messages in the channel's chat.

  • Access subscribers only content: Creators can choose to restrict access to their live broadcasts and/or VODs. This means only users actively subscribed to their channel will be able to view the content.

  • Post messages in subscribers only chat: Creators can decide to restrict their chat to subscribers only. This means only users actively subscribed to their channel will be able to post messages in their chat.

How to subscribe

Tokens are required to purchase a subscription. If you don't have enough tokens in your wallet to cover the subscription cost, you will be prompted to add more tokens to your wallet. Follow our guide to bump Tokens if want to know more.

To subscribe to a channel, click on the "Subscribe" button that can be found on the channel /watch page, or under any of the channel's videos (live or VOD).

You will then be prompted to choose a number of months you wish to subscribe for.

If you decide to subscribe for more than one month, the tokens needed to cover the length of the subscription at the current price will be taken from your account right away. Your subscription will not get affected if the price changes for that duration.

You can add more months to your subscription at any point.

Auto Renewal

Auto renewal is automatically turned on when you subscribe to a channel, regardless of how many months you subscribe for.

If the original subscription was for more than one month, the subscription will renew for only one month.

As long as there is enough tokens to cover the cost of a one month subscription in your wallet, your subscription will carry on for a new month when it is due to expire. If not, auto renewal will be turned off for this channel and your subscription will immediately expire.

You will receive an email notification for both successful and unsuccessful renewals.

You can turn auto renewal off independently for each subscription you have in your subscription page.

Price changes

As creators decide of the price of their monthly subscription, it is possible that the price of the subscription changes sometimes.

You will not be affected by price changes until your subscription renews.

If the price of the monthly subscription goes up, your subscription will expire when it tries to renew and you will be notified that the price has gone up. You will need to manually resubscribe to this channel.

If the price of the monthly subscription goes down, your subscription will renew as normal, but you will be charged the new amount of tokens instead of the one you originally subscribed for.

Managing your active subscriptions

You can see all your subscriptions on your subscription page when you click on your profile picture:

In this page, you can:

  • See all your active and expired subscriptions

  • Extend your active subscriptions

Tipping

You can choose to tip a creator by adding Tokens to one of your chat message. To do so, simply click on the "Add tokens" icon next to the chat message input and select the number of tokens you would like to add to your message. You can click on "Buy tokens" if you wish to add more tokens to your wallet.

Your message and your tip will display in the chat. If you've tipped more than 50 tokens, it will even stay at the top of the chat for a while! (We're working so that creators can change this amount if they want to, stay tuned 👀)

💡 Tip: If the creator you're tipping has their Text to speech dashboard open, your tipping message will be read on stream by Text to speech! To know more about how Text to speech works on bump, visit our Text to speech help page.

Buying Passes

Creators can choose to restrict their live broadcast and/or VODs to users who have bought a pass. The pass price is set in tokens and decided by the Creator.

ℹ️ Note: To know more about how paid broadcasts work from a creator's perspective, you can visit our Paid Broadcasts help page.

If you want to watch a live broadcast, VOD or Scheduled Stream locked behind a pass, you will be able to click the "Buy Pass" button and purchase a pass for the amount of tokens required. If you don't have enough tokens, you will be prompted to buy more.

If the price of the pass goes up or down after you're purchased it, you will not be affected.

You can request a refund for a pass if you bought it for a scheduled stream that hasn't started yet. All other pass purchases are non-refundable.
